Advancing Research That Serves Humanity

ServCollab Research Grants provide catalytic funding to support high-quality service research achieve publication and maximize its impact on humanity. ServCollab Research Grants support innovative research that aligns with ServCollab’s mission and contributes to one or more of ServCollab’s seven Service Research Themes.

These grants are made possible through the generous support of ServCollab donors.


ServCollab was founded on Transformative Service Research (TSR), with a commitment to research collaborations that seek to relieve suffering, improve well-being, and enable well-becoming. The ServCollab Research Grants extend this commitment by supporting TSR research.

Quarterly Research Grants

ServCollab awards one research grant of up to USD 5,000 each calendar quarter.

Each grant supports a research project that:
 

  • Aligns with ServCollab’s mission to serve humanity
     

  • Contributes one or more of ServCollab’s seven Service Research Themes
     

  • Has been invited for revision by a peer-reviewed journal

 

Requiring an invited revision ensures that eligible research has already demonstrated scholarly rigor, relevance, and potential impact. ServCollab Research Grants are designed to support scholars in strengthening manuscripts that are already under invited revision, helping to enhance their quality, impact, and likelihood of publication.

ServCollab Community Membership Requirement

To be eligible, at least one member of the research team must be a member of a ServCollab Wisdom Community.

Membership in ServCollab Wisdom Communities is free and connects scholars who are committed to serving humanity through research. Members engage in collaboration, skill development, and professional growth opportunities.

Research Eligibility Criteria

Eligible research must meet the following criteria:


1. Aligns with ServCollab’s Mission


ServCollab’s Mission:
To serve humanity through research collaborations that catalyze relieving suffering, improving well-being, and enabling well-becoming.


2. Contributes to ServCollab’s Service Research Themes
The research contributes to one or more of ServCollab’s seven Service Research Themes.

3. Invited Revision by a Peer-Reviewed Journal
The manuscript must have been formally invited for revision by a peer-reviewed journal. This requirement ensures that eligible research has already demonstrated scholarly rigor, relevance, and potential impact.

Application Form

Applicants must submit a grant application. ServCollab Research Grants application forms are announced every calendar quarter on our website: https://www.servcollab.org/news-announcements

Application Rules

  • Applicants can submit only one grant application per quarterly competition.
     

  • The grant will be awarded to the applicant for the submitted manuscript. The applicant will be solely responsible for using the grant funds, submitting a progress report and acknowledging the grant.
     

  • Any additional research funding received must be disclosed in the grant application.
     

  • The grant recipient must submit a brief progress report within six months after receiving the grant, summarizing how funds were used and the status of the manuscript.
     

  • Based on the progress report, ServCollab will decide what happens with any unused grant funding.
     

  • ServCollab reserves the right to not award a grant in each quarter if no application meets the eligibility criteria.
     

  • Falsification or misrepresentation of any application information will result in immediate disqualification and, if discovered post-award, repayment of funds.

Assessment and Review Process

Each calendar quarter, ServCollab selects an independent grants review committee of service research scholars from across the globe. The committee evaluates all applications according to ServCollab’s mission, the Service Research Themes, the quality and promise of the research, and the clarity and justification of funding needs.

ServCollab follows a strict no-conflict-of-interest policy. A scholar is not permitted to serve on the review committee if they are supervising an applicant, are a co-author on the applying research, or have any other direct conflict of interest related to an application under review.

​

To ensure transparency, ServCollab will explain the ServCollab Research Grants, eligibility requirements, assessment criteria, and review procedures through different communications.

Optional Support

Recipients of ServCollab Research Grants may request mentoring support from ServCollab to strengthen their research and revision process.

Grant Acknowledgement Requirement

Recipients are required to acknowledge the ServCollab Research Grant in the published article, conference presentations, social media communications and any other public communications of the research.
