Transformative Service Research

Present at a Service Research Conference

Supporting Research that Serves Humanity

ServCollab seeks to advance and amplify innovative research that aligns with Transformative Service Research’s (TSR) purposes. ServCollab has broadened these purposes from a focus on well-being to include relieving suffering, improving well-being, and enabling well-becoming. Through the ServCollab Scholarship for PhD Students, we support emerging scholars whose research contributes to these goals by providing both financial and moral support.

This scholarship is funded through generous donations from individuals and organisations who believe in the power of research to enhance human experience and nurture human flourishing. Each year, selected PhD students receive a USD $1,000 award to help them present their research at leading service research conferences such as the SERVSIG Conference, QUIS Conference or the Frontiers in Service Conference.

The ServCollab Scholarship is designed to encourage the next generation of scholars who seek to serve humanity.

Application Requirements

Eligibility: Open to PhD students from any discipline whose transformative service–related research has been accepted for presentation at a service conference.
 

Abstract Submission: Applicants must submit an application that includes:

  • Title of the accepted abstract

  • Name and location of the conference 

  • Full list of co-authors

  • Brief description of the applicant’s role in the research

  • Full abstract 


Personal Statement: Applicants should explain their interest in, and motivation for conducting Transformative Service Research.

Selection Process

All applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee comprising ServCollab officers and academic experts from multiple universities and countries. This diverse committee structure ensures fairness, transparency, and academic integrity in the selection process.

Application Rules

  • Applicants may submit only one scholarship application per annual competition cycle.
     

  • Awarded applicants must provide proof of conference abstract acceptance.
     

  • Applications must be complete at the time of submission. Missing information may result in disqualification.
     

  • ServCollab reserves the right not to award a scholarship in a given year if no application meets the eligibility or quality criteria.
     

  • ServCollab also reserves the right to:
     

    • Award more than one scholarship recipient in the case of equally strong applications (tie).
       

    • Designate runners-up at its discretion and to determine whether they receive a reward, as well as the amount of any such reward as well as how the award is used.
       

  • The scholarship is awarded to the individual applicant and cannot be transferred to another person or deferred to another conference or year without prior written approval from ServCollab.
     

  • Any additional funding received for the same conference participation must be disclosed in the application.
     

  • An abstract that is awarded a ServCollab PhD Scholarship is not eligible to apply again.
     

  • Falsification or misrepresentation of any information in the application will result in immediate disqualification. If discovered after the award has been granted, this will result in revocation of the scholarship and full repayment of funds.
     

  • Recipients must acknowledge ServCollab support in their conference presentation where appropriate.
     

  • The recipient must provide proof of abstract acceptance before the award is formally granted. 
     

  • The recipient is expected to attend and present at the specified conference.

2026

In 2026, ServCollab received 25 applications from all over the world. ServCollab awarded one scholarship winner and recognized two additional applicants as runners-up.


The ServCollab Scholarship was awarded in 2026 to:

Two additional scholars received honorable recognition as runners-up:

  • Syeda Mansura Khatoon, Hanken School of Economics, Finland

2025

In 2025, ServCollab launched its inaugural PhD Scholarship to recognize excellence in transformative service research. From 37 applicants around the world, two doctoral researchers were selected after a rigorous review process led by a diverse committee representing four universities across four countries.

The ServCollab Scholarship was awarded in 2025 to:

  • Floriane Goosse, University of Namur, Belgium

Three additional scholars received honorable mentions:
