2026 ServCollab PhD Student Scholarship

ServCollab is pleased to announce the second year of the ServCollab PhD Student Scholarship, made possible through generous donations from ServCollab Donors.

This scholarship seeks to support and amplify innovative doctoral research that aligns with the purposes of Transformative Service Research (TSR).

TSR emerged as a research movement at the 2011 Transformative Consumer Research Conference. Anderson, Ostrom, and Bitner (2011, p. 3) define TSR as “the integration of consumer and service research that centers on creating uplifting changes and improvements in the well-being of consumer entities: individuals (consumers and employees), communities, and the ecosystem.” ServCollab was founded on the principles of TSR and has since broadened its purpose to encompass reducing suffering, improving well-being, and enabling well-becoming.

The ServCollab PhD Student Scholarship will provide $1,000 (US dollars) of funding to one selected recipient to present their research at a 2026 service research conference. Eligible conferences include the June 2026 SERVSIG Conference in Braga, Portugal, or the June-July 2026 Frontiers in Service Conference in Helsinki, Finland.

Eligibility

• Open to PhD students from any discipline whose research focuses on transformative service-related topics.

Application Requirements

• Conference Abstract: Submission of an accepted conference abstract describing the applicant’s research.

• Personal Statement: A brief statement explaining the applicant’s motivation for conducting Transformative Service Research and how their work contributes to its purposes.
