Kunio Shirahada is an associate professor in Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) from 2012. He received his Ph.D at the University of Tokyo in 2009. His research interests include Transformative Service Research (service sustainability, community revitalization for collective well-being creation, service for the elderly), neuro-marketing using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) technology, motivation management for service employees, and innovative organization design. He is a co-founder of Asian Forum for TSR (with Fan Xiucheng, Fudan Univ. China).

He has published in the Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Technology in Society, Journal of Business Research, Int. J of Technology Management, Int. J of Automotive Technology Management, Service Industries Journal, Int. J of Innovation and technology management, and other Japanese service related research papers. He presented his paper at Frontiers in Service Conference, QUIS, SERVSIG conference, Transformative consumer research conference, and PICMET (Portland International Conference on Management of Engineering and Technology). He is a member of editorial board on IEEE-EM, and other technology management journals.
